Originally working in live sport and then children’s television production, Victoria Hunt made the move to broadcast-related accessibility in 2007 and soon became immersed in—and passionate about—the provision of access services for audiences, and the complexities of making it all work in real time, in real life.
Victoria has spent the past three years at SBS, Australia’s multicultural, multilingual public broadcaster. She manages SBS’s Access Services Unit, which both produces and oversees captioning, audio description and subtitling - into and out of LOTE - across SBS’s linear and BVOD services.
Victoria oversees the production of 1,500+ hours of new audio description each year through a vendor partnership and has also set up in-house capability to produce AD for high-profile, usually subtitled, SBS-commissioned content, including a significant slate of co-productions with NITV, Australia’s national Indigenous television channel.
