Cathy Waibel

Cathy Waibel is Director of the Directorate for Citizens’ Language, one of the four directorates of the translation services of the European Parliament, headed by Valter Mavrič. A former translator, editor and advisor to Mr Mavrič, Cathy now leads an expert team of language professionals and technical staff, who provide multilingual content in clear language and in three formats: text, audio and video. She holds master’s degrees in translation and European legal studies. Her 17 years of experience as a translator at the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the European Parliament have equipped her with a thorough knowledge of multilingualism in the European institutions.
