Linda Lapini is an AHRC TECHNE-funded PhD research student at the University of Roehampton, where she researches academic and professional training in interlingual subtitling. She has also been working as a freelance translator and subtitler since 2018.
Linda has a background in languages, philology, and linguistics from her BA studies. She did her MA in Audiovisual Translation at the University of Roehampton in 2017. After gaining some professional experience as a Project Manager at a translation company in London, she returned to Roehampton for her PhD in 2019.
Since 2020, she has been tutoring Italian students in various postgraduate translation modules offered at Roehampton, and trained students with hands-on practice of professional subtitling tools. In 2022, she joined the Open University as an Associate Lecturer in the Translation in Practice module.
She is a member of ESIST, the European Association of Studies in Screen Translation, and an assistant editor of its journal JAT, the Journal of Audiovisual Translation. She is also on the committee of Subtle, the Subtitlers’ Association, where she acts as social media manager and academic liaison.
