Shaza Hamza is a PhD student at the University of Vigo (Spain), investigating integrated vs standard interlingual subtitles. Her current doctoral research is mainly based on the notion of extending Media Accessibility to include Audiovisual Translation and the foreign audiences along with SDH, for which she made a short documentary and she will test its reception. Shaza had previously worked as a teaching assistant at the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpreting, Damascus University, where she taught English and Translation. She has worked with Vital Xposure on subtitling the award-winning documentary Voices from the Knitting Circle.
Shaza has a background in film production, screenplay writing, translation and electronic media. Her research interests also include media accessibility, filmmaking, film studies, film criticism, reception and eye tracking in AVT.
