Carlos de Pablos-Ortega is Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics and Spanish at the University of East Anglia, UK, and has a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Universidad Nebrija, Spain. His research, ranging from pragmatics to audiovisual translation, has been published in many international journals. He co-authored a book, Seamos pragmáticos: introducción a la pragmática española (2014) YUP. He leads the multi award-winning project Support for Access to Audiovisual Media (SAAM), where students subtitle videos for charities intrallingually and interligually. He is part of the TACIT group (Translation and Communication in Training), a cross-linguistic and cross-cultural interdisciplinary empirical study of police interviews in monolingual and multilingual contexts. He was co-investigator on a 2-year Erasmus+ funded collaborative project, Digital Accessibility for You, aiming to empower young people with communication difficulties to use digital media for democratic participation.
