Languages & the Media 2020 Rescheduling Announcement

When choosing “Riding the Wave” as the theme for this year’s event, we could have never imagined that the world would be hit by a tsunami of such proportions as the Covid-19 pandemic. Our thoughts are with those who have been directly affected by the virus, and those who are struggling with the consequences of it.

Over the last months, we have monitored the situation and sought guidance from public health authorities and our partners. We were advised to postpone the event, originally scheduled in June, in the hope that things would improve, and we could meet again in person safely this December. However, following the most recent developments, the persistent health and safety concerns, and uncertainty around distancing regulations and travel restrictions, make it clear that conditions aren’t safe for holding a physical event of such scale this year.

Our mission has always been to provide a rich environment to connect, share valuable insights and knowledge, and to educate and engage our community in ways that we feel virtual environments cannot fully replicate. As event organisers, we strongly believe that on-site networking and social mingling are the essence of the Languages & the Media experience that our attendees have come to love over the years. Therefore, we have taken the decision to reschedule the event to 2021, when circumstances should allow us to deliver the kind of event you look forward to in a safe manner.

The 13th Languages & the Media Conference and Exhibition will take place from September 20 – 22, 2021 at Radisson Blu Hotel in Berlin.

Please visit our FAQ page to find out about how the change of dates affect your booking and don’t hesitate to contact us should your concerns not be addressed.

In order to keep our community up-to-date, we will be hosting a Virtual Roundtable Discussion on December 15, 2020. This will provide an opportunity for us to convene virtually and hear from prominent experts about the current state of the audiovisual localisation industry and their opinions about what awaits us on the path ahead. More information will be announced soon.

We look forward to the time when our community can gather safely again and hope to see you online in December and in person next year in Berlin.
