Content

Translation in general and audiovisual translation in particular is intrinsically reliant on technology and it is a necessity for those working and teaching in this field to remain updated. In recent years we have witnessed the development and free distribution of a vast number of freeware programs focussed on video manipulation. Downloading clips from the net, creating subtitles, merging text and images, adding a new soundtrack to a clip, encoding audiovisual scenes and ripping subtitles are just some of the tasks that can be easily performed with the right program. In this workshop we address some of the issues faced by professional subtitlers and tutors and provide solutions through user-friendly programs. The potential of these programs will be discussed, some of them will be shown and all participants will be given ‘easy guides’ on how to use them.
