Prof. dr. Aline Remael (TricS research group) is Department Chair, and Professor of Translation Theory, Interpreting and Audiovisual Translation at the Department of Applied Linguistics/Translators and Interpreters at the University of Antwerp. Her main research interests and publications are in AVT/media accessibility, including audio description (AD), and live subtitling with speech recognition. She is the supervisor of a university-funded project on accessible theatre (2017-2019) and partner in three European accessibility projects (ACT, ADLAB PRO and ILSA). She was the chief editor of Linguistica Antverpienisa NS-Themes in Translation Studies from 2002 to 2012 and remains a member of its editorial board. She is also a member of the advisory board of The Translator , Perspectives, and Peter Lang’s New Trends in Translation Studies. She is a former member of the ESIST and EST boards and currently a board member of the European Network of Public Service Interpreting (ENPSIT).
