Pilar González Vera

Mª Pilar González Vera graduated from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, with a degree in English Philology followed by a doctorate on Audiovisual Translation, focusing on dubbing animated films. She also holds a BA (Hons) in Combined Studies, major in Linguistics, from the University of Central Lancashire. She has been a lecturer at UCLAN and she is currently teaching English at the Faculty of Education in the University of Zaragoza, where she is involved in an innovative teaching project with the programme Moodle in the University of Zaragoza.

Her research interests include audiovisual translation, literary translation and children’s literature. She is particularly interested in the translation of cultural aspects and humour and in gender relationships. She has been involved in a research programme, which investigated the reception of Swift’s works in Spain and their translations into Spanish. She is a member of a research group that studies domestication and foreignisation in translation.

She has presented papers in several conferences such as in MACL. Multilingualism and Applied Comparative Linguistics (Vrieje Universiteit Brussel, Erasmus Hogeschool y Katholieke Universiteit Brussel), Between Text and Image. Updating Research in Screen Translation (University of Forli), 4th International Child and the Book conference. (Boğadiçi University. Istanbul), in XIV Susanne Hübner Internacional Seminar. Linguistics and persuasive communication (Univerisity of Zaragoza).

She also has published papers on audiovisual translation, culture and gender aspect in journals such as RILA, IKALA or CSP.
