Gianna Tarquini is a PhD in English for Specific Purposes and has developed a research project on video game localisation. Her specialization fields include audiovisual translation and software localisation, partly developed in Japan during a research period at the Kwansei Gakuin University, Nishinomiya, and at the Localisation Research Centre, University of Limerick. She presented at a number of international conferences, including "Univer-cities, Translation, Languages and Internationalisation", University of Alicante, Spain, "Language in new media: technologies and ideologies" , University of Washington, USA and "Le Tour du Monde d'Astérix", Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris. She has a four-year experience in the gaming industry as a professional freelance translator.
