Alina Secară

A professional captioner, Alina Secară has been providing captioned performances at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and acting as the Director of the MA in Audiovisual Translation at the Centre for Translation Studies, University of Leeds where she teaches computer-assisted translation and audiovisual translation. Alina has experience as in-house translator and captioner, and played an active role in the creation of e-learning translation training materials for various European projects including eCoLoTrain and eCoLoMedia. She delivered ITI translation memory and subtitling short courses, published on topics relating to translator training and presented research papers at conferences such as Media for All 2009, Aslib 2009, Audiovisual Translation: Multidisciplinary Approaches, 2008 and others. Alina's current research project deals with the investigation of reading behaviours in fansubbing environments using eye-tracking technology.
