Prof Schildhauer studied computer science at the Technische Universität Berlin (TU) and helds Phds
in the field of information management and public health.
He led the software development and merchant support of a software company of the Bertelsmann AG from 1984 to 1986. As of 1986 to 1990 he acted as sales manager and then managing director of midle sized software company.
Since 1990 Prof Schildhauer led the Lufthansa Informationtechnik and Software GmbH as managing director for six years (now: Lufthansa Systems Berlin). Thenceforwards he paid more attention to the teaching.
From 1996 to 2000 he worked as professor with focus on business management and marketing at the University of applied sciences in Eberswalde. From December 1999 to March 2002 he taught international marketing and telematic at the University of applied sciences in Wildau. In March 2002 Prof Schildhauer has been appointed to an university professor at the University of Arts in Berlin and to the chair for electronic business with focus on marketing.
Prof Schildhauer is founder of the Institute of Electronic Business and executive research director at the Institute of Electronic Business – the first affiliated institute of the University of Arts Berlin since April 2000. In October 2000 he started the first course of studies at university in Europe entitled“electronic business”. This course is the first of its kind in Germany. In 2005 he developed a Master study program in partnership with the University of St. Gallen, which is called “Leadership in digital communication”. Beside the setup of the course of studies, the Institute of Electronic Business concerns with practically orientated research especially in the fields of e-business strategies, elearning, knowledge-management, e-government and social media design in relation to electronic business. Since May 2007 he is appointed as executive director for the Zentral Institute for Postgraduate Studies at the University of arts, Berlin .
Since 2000 Prof Schildhauer works as university lecturer at the University of St. Gallen. Further international experience he got by visiting and working on research projects at the MIT in Boston, USA. Furthermore Prof Schildhauer worked in 2003 as visiting professor at the Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia.
In the field of science Prof Schildhauer realized many national and international publications, e.g. the“Lexikon of Electronic Business” published by the Oldenbourg Verlag.
As a member in many scientific boards of direction he gives advices to many start-ups, e.g.
www.jovoto.com and international companies in relation to e-business, marketing and IT
strategies.
