Gabriela Laura Scandura

Gabriela Scandura holds a Master´s degree in Audiovisual Translation from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. She´s an expert advisor for the FIT Audiovisual Translation Committee. For the past 19 years she has worked as a professional translator for dubbing and subtitling companies, as well as for the Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata film festivals, and as an interpreter for the Buenos Aires Theater Festival. Since 2000, she has also surtitled the plays presented at the Buenos Aires British Arts Centre. She teaches Literary Translation and Interpreting, as well as different seminars on AVT. Her research interests include the translation of humor (particularly sitcoms), subtitling quality, and the neurocognitive aspects of subtitling.
