Dr. Anna Matamala, PhD in Applied Linguistics (UPF, Barcelona), is a full-time lecturer at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she directs the MA in Audiovisual Translation and teaches audiovisual translation. Since 1996 she is a certified audiovisual translator for the Catalan television TVC. She has participated in many funded projects on AVT and media accessibility such as the European project DTV4ALL, and is currently leading an innovative learning project on AVT (Multimedia Mining System for AVT, ref. 2008MQD00014). A member of the international research group Transmedia, and of its local branch Transmedia Catalonia, Anna Matamala has published in international refereed journals such as Meta, The Translator, Perspectives, Babel, Vigo International Journal of Applied Linguistics, Linguistica Antverpiensia, Cadernos de Traduçao and Catalan Journal of Linguistics among others. She is also the co-editor (with Pilar Orero) of a book on subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing published in 2010 by Peter Lang and co-author (with Eliana Franco and Pilar Orero) of a book on voice-over to be published very soon.
