Jing Han

Jing Han received her BA in English from Lanzhou University and MA in English and American Literatures from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She went to Australia in 1988 to pursue her PhD studies at Sydney University and received her doctoral degree in English and Australian Literatures in 1994.

Dr Han joined SBS TV, Australia in 1996 as a Mandarin subtitler. In 2006 she was appointed as the Chief Subtitler at the Subtitling and Program Preparation Department. Over the past 14 years, Dr Han has subtitled more than 200 Chinese films and TV documentaries for the Australian audience, including Lust, Caution, The Assembly, The Curse of Golden Flower, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, The Banquet, Fearless, Crazy Stone, Not One Less, The Road Home, Blind Shaft, Beijing Bicycle, Together, Springtime in A Small Town, Temptress Moon.

Dr Han is also a lecturer of translation and interpreting at the University of Western Sydney. She teaches Introduction to Translation, Literary Translation, Audiovisual Translation, Accreditation Studies, Specialised Translation, Medical and Legal Interpreting.
